Alright, there's five mistakes on Tik Tok that I'm seeing that drive me crazy. They don't necessarily drive me crazy, but they're common. These are common mistakes that I'm seeing on Tik Tok. So make sure you avoid these. And I'm gonna talk briefly about each one.
The first one that I'm seeing is people on TikTok are not getting straight to the point. There's a book called I believe "Hook Point" where the author I have this book, I keep forgetting the author's name, where the author talks about the first three seconds of a video and then getting to the point you know, you have the hook, and then you're getting right to the point. So always have a hook in my videos, which is within the first three seconds and I get straight to the point. And I'm not seeing a whole lot of that through a lot of these videos on Tiktok. A lot of times people are talking and around over under the entire point of the video. And when you do that with it, especially with Tik Tok being a short form platform where people will click off real quick, if you don't get to the point, you'll see a lot of that you'll see a lot of your videos, you won't get a lot of views. So now algorithm is very smart on tick tock and it notices that so it notices when you are getting straight when you are not getting straight to the point of the video. Once you watch, you have your hook in the first two, three seconds, boom, go straight into the point of the video and give as much value as possible while you're doing so.
The second thing that I'm seeing is people are not using captions. People are not using captions on Tik Tok, I don't, I don't know why. I know why some of them just don't know, you know, some people just don't know or most people they probably just don't know. That's why it's important to to before you get on any of these platforms to watch, I guess some of your favorite creators watch what they're doing and how they're doing it, how they're doing things or not just your favorite, your fate your favorite creators doesn't necessarily you know, I'm not necessarily saying the biggest person on the platform, it could be just a small creator, you might want to watch the small creators before you watch the bigger ones because the smaller creators have gone to, they're going to be the first of all the content likely is gonna be better. And they're gonna they're gonna do a lot of things to where you can actually see why their channel has been growing. Even on small creators go to some of their popular videos and see exactly what they're doing use captions. And they'll tell me you don't know what captions is, or should I explain what Captions are on tick tock there, you can use the auto generated captions also or if you're if you are doing the if you're editing the video outside the platform using something like Cap Cut, you can use captions. Also, so make sure that you're using your captions.
The third thing to the third mistake on Tik Tok to avoid is not using a trending sound People aren't using trending sounds. And actually a cool method for using trending sounds, if you are a creator is, you know, there are many different ways to look for trends to find trending sounds. But I say if you're doing some particular, if you're doing some very particular, you might want to see what another creator, if another creative made a similar video, go see what sound they use, you might want to use that same sound, especially if their video blew up. So if their video got a lot of traction, use that trend in sound. So that's a cool little hack. For you also, quick break in the episode I want to talk about a resource page that I put together with a lot of helpful things on or something much different than the show notes. So Sass things such as our ebooks and audio books, a whole bunch of other resources with affiliate links and things like that. So make sure you check that out at Digital Marketing creators.com forward slash resources, digital marketing creators.com forward slash resources, check it out, back to the show.
Number four, the fourth mistake on Tik Tok to avoid and I see this one all the time I see this one all the time. And that's not engaging in your comments, talk to people, every comment that you have talked to people now, of course, there's a caveat to that. As your platform grow, grows, you're not going to be able to talk to everybody, it's just not going to be worth your time to spend all day with a phone in your hand responding to everybody. But if you are a beginner, make sure that you are talking to people in your comments and answer the questions. If they if they comment, hey, ask them a question. Because the more comments you have, and this is on any social media platform, the more comments you have, that algorithms are gonna say, hey, people like this, and so they're gonna push it out to more people don't push your content out to more people. So it's beneficial to talk to people to engage with people in your comment section.
And the last one, here's the last one right here that's driving me crazy. I'm being a little, little, little silly when I say it's driving me crazy. Also, none of this stuff drives me crazy is just saying these are just things that I see all the time. But the fifth mistake on Tik Tok that you want to avoid is not posting enough. You have to post especially if you're a beginner, if you're a beginner, you want to post lots of content, lots of content, such as probably about multiple videos a day three, to three, four videos a day, yes, a day, and not every day, the life of the platform. Maybe if you know if you're starting off and I'm thinking in terms of beginners. So if you're starting off using Tiktok, three or four times a day, have a goal of doing that for 30 days and see what happens have a goal of doing it for 60 days, see what happens and so on and so forth.
And then maybe when you can when you get traction you can slow that down maybe just post once a day not posting enough you there's a lot of people who are like great content creators to say that they don't even post enough you know, you have to you have to feed the beast so to speak, feed tick tock so tick tock will know who they can post your content to who wants to see this content and are gonna need to see a lot of content in order to find those people for you to find those people that will engage with you the finals people that you can help with your products and services and so on and so forth.
Make sure that you are posting enough on tick tock there are so many more mistakes that I see people making but I wanted to you know I like to make these quick podcast episodes and make these quick and make them make it easy for you know you you listen to maybe you're at the gym or maybe you're doing you know someone else listening in somewhere in the world and you just wanted to get this in and see see what we're talking about and see if see if we can help you with your short form content.
