Imagine using social media marketing, without a college degree, you need a college degree, let me stop, you don't need a college degree for any of this stuff. Now, maybe if you are, I don't even think if you are looking for a career in social media marketing, who needs a college degree for social media marketing, you can gain all the skills that you want, and learn all the skills that you want. without a college degree and a college degree.

It's it's and I'm not against I'm not one of these people that I'm not completely against college degree, I'm not gonna bash the college system and all that stuff, because I have a couple of bachelor degrees myself, so I'm not gonna I'm not humblebrag in either. I'm not gonna bash it either. But you don't need this. It actually, in a lot of these jobs, they're kind of going away from that. Also, you don't need a college degree for everything.

Right now a lot of these skills, you can learn on your phone, your mobile device, you can learn, you know, with your laptop in front of you. And that's just the way it is you don't need a college degree for that. Now, maybe some jobs are are still telling you you need a college degree for some but that's that particular that particular job. But a lot of these jobs are getting getting away from those requirements.

Some of them for some reason, I guess they I don't know, maybe it's just because of the old the old, old way of thinking, I'm using my air quotes old way of thinking that they would want you to have a college degree to do certain things. I guess in their company, maybe if, if they're looking for content manager that makes a certain amount of money, they always want to attach that dollar amount to a college degree, which is crazy. To me. It really is. You don't need a college degree for social media marketing for the most part.

For the most part. I'll repeat that some companies they want to require if you're looking for a job now if you are freelancer, obviously you don't need a college degree for any of that stuff to learn any of this stuff. You can go and get different certifications. You know, like a Google, you know, Google has all types of certifications. And a lot of these companies Facebook, I believe, I'm not sure if Facebook has has any but some of these social media platforms have them but for the most part if you're a creator.

I mean, what the heck do you need a college degree for you can accomplish anything you want to without a college degree. Now anything you want to in the in this space in the digital marketing space without a without a college degree that that's kind of overhype is, you see the industry is is going away from that having a degree shows that you have a higher education, you know and a basic understanding of working in a particular field such as social media management, do you really be might be who wants to I'm sitting here thinking to myself, and this is just as my podcast so it's my opinion. So I'm thinking to myself who would spend, an old college is very expensive, who would spin $50K or $100,000 getting a college degree, so they can work in social media management, or social media marketing. It's crazy to me, that's just crazy to me.

You know, maybe, maybe have a lot more knowledge on this and been doing this for a long time to where you know, my perspective is different. Maybe I have the I guess the quote unquote, scans on the wall to think that but breaking into the digital marketing industry as a creator entrepreneur, shouldn't be a requirement for a college degree. If I'm speaking any of these companies, I'm telling them, it's it's crazy. Gotta you're gonna have to pull back on on some of that, because a lot of people wit with supreme skills, it has nothing to do with four years of schooling or, you know, any of that stuff it, it doesn't make sense anymore. It just doesn't doesn't make sense to me. I'm sorry. It just it, I find that I find it and I'm kind of stuttering a little bit. But I find it just crazy. It really is. It's crazy to me to think that.

Now, the alternative, let's just say you have I don't know what institutions offer Social Media Marketing degrees, but I'm sure they do. Is it worth it? I would say, I don't know, I have mixed feelings on it. It can be worth it. For some people, I personally wouldn't do it. And I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do or whatnot, I personally would not do it, it will be beneficial if you got a job in that field, and that's the degree you have and they required it and all that because maybe you can move on to something else. Maybe you can move on something else within that company or with another company. You know, if if if you like, you know if you're out here in the work field or what have you so I can I understand don't get me wrong, I'm not so far away from what I believe in to deter or tell somebody that they that they shouldn't do it in this it's a complete waste. I don't think it's a complete waste. Me personally, I wouldn't do it.

I'm actually reading this article here. Just come up. Call. It's on my degree guide.com And it's talking about exactly showing different colleges that do offer degrees and in social media. Arizona State University, Arkansas State let me see let me see Colorado Technical University. Wow. Liberty, actually here in town where one I met in St. Louis Lindenwood University. Wow. It offers an online Bachelors of Science and Digital Marketing Pro. Interesting, and a lot of these other universities as well offering but just my opinion, I guess.

Like the old rap group, Digital Underground, "Do Whatcha Like" I guess. But as far as learning the skills of social media marketing, you do not need a college degree whatsoever. It might take some trial and error. It's also going to take a whole lot of you consuming content around social media marketing, consuming content around social media, social media marketing, whether it's a podcast, whether you like um, you know, reading blogs, whether you like watching videos, YouTube videos, or what have you can learn that way there.

There's plenty of tutorials on a lot of these specific topics in social media marketing that you can learn.
